Reggio Emilia approach was founded by lifelong educator Loris Malaguzzi (1920-1994) after World War II in a city in northern Italy called Reggio Emilia. In December 1991, Newsweek magazine hailed the preschools of Reggio Emilia as the “best in the world.”
