Pembroke Pines – Opening Spring 2011
Kid’s Konnection event
KLA School of Pembroke Pines is proud to announce that our first participation in the Pembroke Pines community was a success. During the Kid’s Konnection event at the Pembroke Shores Park we had the opportunity to meet different and very interesting families from this lovely community.
The children that visited us showed tremendous enthusiasm and excitement for the mini-atelier we had set up for them. This mini-atelier was designed to encourage their exploration of artistic expression using a broad variety of materials. We were amazed by their inherent interests which underscore our belief that children have a natural intuitive interest in communicating not only through the spoken language, but also through the use of symbolic language such as tri-dimensional structures and graphic representations. It is clear that children communicate in more than a hundred languages!
So much creativity at hand! The projects the children came up with were unique and delightful, but above all we were fortunate to observe the children’s cognitive processes at work. It was fascinating to witness their conversations and the ways in which they collaborated with each other. As Loris Malaguzzi, founder of the Reggio Emilia approach, so eloquently stated: “Creativity becomes more visible when adults try to be more attentive to the cognitive processes of children than to the results they achieve in various fields of doing and understanding”.
We would like to thank the Pembroke Pines community for such a warm welcome and invite you to visit us, so we may tell you more about our approach to early childhood education and how your children’s life could be nurtured by it.
