KLA Schools Celebrate Career Month Through Family Partnership and Real-World Learning

Plainfield/Naperville, IL — May 2026

KLA Schools of Plainfield, Naperville, and Naperville West proudly celebrated Career Month, a schoolwide initiative designed to connect children’s learning to the real world through meaningful family partnership. Rooted in the belief that parents are a child’s first and most important teacher, Career Month invited families to share their professions, strengthen home-school relationships, and help children build early curiosity about the world around them.

Throughout the month, classrooms welcomed parents and caregivers as guest speakers and “topic experts,” creating joyful opportunities for children to ask questions, explore new vocabulary, and make connections between classroom projects and community life. Families represented a wide range of careers, including clinical pharmacists, hairdressers, practicing nurses, contract Administrators, house painters, and medical malpractice attorneys, who engaged children through developmentally appropriate activities such as reading stories, playing matching games, demonstrating tools and gear, and sharing how their work helps others.

These visits supported early foundations for learning by encouraging children to observe, wonder, communicate, and connect new ideas to familiar people in their lives. Children were especially proud to see their family members lead classroom experiences, often sharing their own ideas about what each career involves and what they noticed during the presentation.
