KLA Schools Celebrate Week of the Young Child

Honoring the Whole Child Through Connection and Creativity

Naperville/Plainfield, IL — April 2026 —
KLA Schools of Plainfield, Naperville, and Naperville West proudly celebrated the Week of the Young Child, a national initiative that recognizes the importance of early childhood education and the vital role families, schools, and communities play in a child’s development. At KLA Schools, this week is an opportunity to celebrate the whole child—supporting social-emotional growth, creativity, independence, and early learning through meaningful, hands-on experiences in a nurturing environment.

Throughout the week, children, teachers, and caregivers participated in daily experiences centered on connection, collaboration, and healthy habits. Music Monday filled classrooms with singing, rhythm, and movement to encourage joy and self-expression. Tasty Tuesday highlighted wellness through nutrition and hands-on cooking experiences, where children created healthy snacks while practicing fine motor and early life skills. Work Together Wednesday focused on teamwork and problem-solving through shared building and collaborative play. On Artsy Thursday, students engaged in open-ended art experiences that encouraged imagination and creativity.

The celebration concluded with Family Friday, honoring the important role families play in every child’s growth. In classrooms, children created meaningful projects such as drawings and clay sculptures of their families—celebrating the people who support and care for them each day.

“At KLA Schools, we believe early childhood is a critical time for building curiosity, confidence, and strong relationships,” shared KLA Schools leadership. “Week of the Young Child is a meaningful opportunity to honor the whole child, celebrate families and educators, and advocate for high-quality early learning experiences where children feel safe, connected, and inspired to thrive.”

Through this celebration, KLA Schools reaffirmed its commitment to creating nurturing, engaging learning environments where children are empowered to explore, create, collaborate, and grow.
