KLA Schools Students Deliver Hundreds of Food Items to Support Local Families

Plainfield & Naperville, IL — [24th Nov 2025] — Students from KLA Schools of Plainfield and KLA Schools of Naperville demonstrated the power of community, compassion, and hands-on learning this week as they completed their annual schoolwide Food Drive. Across the campuses, young learners helped collect, sort, count, graph, and personally deliver donations to local food banks—making a meaningful impact on families in need during the holiday season.

Plainfield Campus Donates 897 Items to the Plainfield Interfaith Food Pantry

The Plainfield campus collected an impressive 897 food items this year. Students in classrooms 4A and 4B took an active role in the entire process—helping count, organize, box, and prepare the donations for delivery. The 4A class even created graphs to visualize the results, integrating STEM skills into a real-world service project.

Students helped deliver the boxes directly to the Plainfield Interfaith Food Pantry, where they met with volunteers, asked questions, and saw firsthand how their contributions will support local families.

Naperville West Campus Donation Weighs In at 397 Pounds for Loaves & Fishes

At the Naperville campus, the school’s 4-year-old students led their own food collection effort, culminating in a delivery totaling 397 pounds of food to Loaves & Fishes Community Services in Naperville.

During their visit, students received a guided tour of the facility, learned how donations are sorted and prepared for distribution, and saw how food banks operate behind the scenes. Teachers reported how proud students were to see their donations making a meaningful difference.

Naperville collected 133 individual items for the food pantry

Naperville collected 133 individual items for the local food pantry. Some of the 4’s worked together to sort, count, and ready the donations for drop-off. Service-learning experiences like this help preschoolers build social skills and understand the importance of helping others.

Building Empathy Through Hands-On Learning

These service activities reflect KLA Schools’ commitment to nurturing empathy, leadership, and community engagement through experiential learning. By involving students directly in each step—collecting, counting, graphing, organizing, and delivering—children gain a deeper understanding of both math and civic responsibility.

“This experience shows our students that even at a young age, they can make a powerful impact,” said school leaders. “We are incredibly proud of their hard work and grateful to our families for supporting this initiative.”
